Foot and Ankle Problems
Pain and numbness are both common problems in the foot and
ankle. There are a variety of causes.
- Some foot and ankle conditions that respond well to Chiropractic treatment are acute and recurrent ankle sprains, plantar fasciitis (with or without heel spurs) and neuromas.
- Sometimes numbness is due to nerve compression in the low back or knee.
Of course, an accurate diagnosis is required for effective treatment.
Chiropractic adjustment for an ankle sprain is very useful in preventing recurrent ankle sprains. This is because:
- Injury to a joint alters "proprioception" (your abilty to know where your ankle joint is subconsciously) and, therefore, makes accidents more likely.
- Adjustments restore proprioception to injured joints.
